Check It Out

The Salomi Indian and Bangladesh restaurant, owned and operated by Abdul and Marjory Kadir is a wonderful and worthwhile culinary treat. Walking into the restaurant from Lankershim Blvd. instantly transports your senses and leaves no doubt that you will be in for an authentic dining experience. Tandoor ovens bake delicious breads and cook lamb dishes in the traditional Indian style. From a health standpoint these ovens cook meats in a way that leaves very little fat in the meat, yet it is still very tender and tasty. I had a house specialty that included a fried rice dish with chicken, garnished with egg and tomatoes and served with a vegetable curry that was all delicious. My curry was medium spicy and had great flavor. Exotic condiments like mango pickle and onion chutney or desserts such as lychee fruit or kulfi invite your exploration.

Rumor has it that Salomi is a popular lunch spot for British rock stars who find themselves in one of the many local recording studios. George Harrison was seen there the day he received Billboard Music’s Lifetime Achievement award.
