Check This Out!

This is the first of an occasional column that functions to point out something good or noteworthy that you should (drum roll please!) check…it…out. It also functions to give editorial support to the advertising department and advertisers that make possible the NoHo News.

Wild Bill’s Bar-B-Que

For all you barbecue connoisseurs out there, there’s a new rib joint in town that’s giving Tony Roma’s some competition. One of the best features that has attracted me is the fact that it’s open 24 hours. Yes, at 3 in the morning you can get ribs, beef and chicken dinners, and you might even be joined by a rock star or rapper coming off a late-night recording session. The ribs are good, too. I often find that ribs at BBQ stands can be a little fatty—not at Wild Bill’s. The meat is good. 5942 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood, 818-752-4557.

Grant Lashley Sculpture Studio and Gallery

While you’re on Vineland, go south of Magnolia and visit the Grant Lashley Sculpture Studio and Gallery. Grant does original and commissioned sculptures and paintings. Grant is there most of the time and will be glad to answer questions about all of his work. In fact, he offers an open invitation to visitors. “The coffee is always on!” 818-761-8159.
