Happenin’ Harry, the pre-eminent Valley club promoter, has a new gig at the Blue Saloon, featuring acoustic jazz on Sunday evenings beginning this month. The Blue Saloon’s repertoire of cool jazz is the best the Valley has to offer. On Saturday nights, Club Duane has become the scene for unsigned alternative rock acts and the ambiance that follows them. It’s a scene that should be checked out. The drink prices can’t be beat!

Every Friday night in the month of June, Alison’s will be defying all tenets of good business and pricing strategies by letting loose Alexi, who—Alison herself believes—is prepared to slash prices up to 70% in order to make room for new inventory. I have a feeling that a good bargain hunter will get away with a steal on anything in the store. Alison’s is the place to be on Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Mention my name when you drop in—it helps me maintain my good credit.

If you want more evidence that dance is kicking up its heels in the Valley, check out the NoHo Arts Festival June 4th. Among those scheduled to appear are members of the Tremaine Dance Center and the Professional Dance School, led by Maureen Kennedy Samuel.

Illustrious illustrator and NoHo Magazine contributor Ben Twede is about to have another of his fantastic one-off—dinky comic-book, German Expressionist, pop art, psychedelic, grungey—art exhibits. This time the walls of Cobalt Cafe, at 22024 Sherman Way, will be adorned with the lovely works that seem to flow unceasingly and effortlessly from the color pen of Mr. Twede.
